Direct 10GHz PLL
This PLL board supports a Series of VCOs from Hittite.
Default is the 10GHz version,which uses a HMC3592 VCO with a range of 9,6GHz to 11GHz.
Other pin compatible VCOs 8GHz 12GHz 14GHz are available at Digikey,
but they are rather expensive and should be ordered by yourself !
According Datasheet the VCOs have a Fx1, F/2 and F/4 output.
The F/4 output is feed to the PLL IC, because its max frequency is 4GHz.
The F/2 is disabled to save current (The 10GHz output cannot be disabled)
Measurement however showed,that F/2 comes through with only 20dBc below,
so it seems that in reality the VCO have Fx1, Fx2 and F/2 where the 10GHz is the Fx2,
means it works at 5GHz and has an internal doubler for the 10GHz Out.
Pout at 10GHz is 10dBm (10mW) min., typ. +13dBm (20mW).
Phase Noise is 80dBc/Hz measured with a 10MHz Morion OCXO as Reference Oscillator.
Supply Voltage +8V to +12V at 300mA
The +5V Regulator for the 200mA Vcc of the VCO is soldered inside to the Metal Box and
has an additional heat sink at the Outside
This PLL is only offered complete in Metal Box,
because it is necessary to tune the output power when housed.
It is recommended to use an External Reference, OCXO or GPS disciplined Ref.
But it can also be equipped with TCXO Option 2 (0,5ppm) or 3 (0,25ppm),
